The famous Rijeka Carnival is over! Did you know that Rijeka Carnival is the 3rd biggest in the world? And this year it ended the only right way – it was spectacular!
Accumulated energy exploded on Sunday, 7th March in Rijeka in countless colors, characters, humorous comments of current events and imaginative creations. All of that was done by 117 carnival groups with about 10.100 participants who throughout the year planed, sewed costumes and built floats, 81 of them this year.   And when the last mask is removed, plans for the next year are already under way! Rijeka is calling you – Be what you want to be! See you next year, same time, same place!

Adriana is back!

We already mourned her as extinct, but in the last few years she visits again our shores! This winter in particular, she enyojed more than once the sunrays at the beaches of Pula, carefully watched from a decent distance by her self – appointed guards, the biologists, who took care that she can relax undisturbed. Adriana, how Croats call this cute creature, is the rarest seal in the world. You might meet her in the waters of Kvarner Bay, or at some lonely beach. If you do, please whatch her from a distance, because this lady is very shy and we dont want to scare her away with our impertinence!

The lazy giant laying across the sea that you’ll see from Selce is island Krk, in ancient times known as the “Golden Island”. It may well be because of it’s other beauties, but if you drive across the island just before sundown and see it’s green valleys covered with olive trees and vineyards bathed in golden light, you won’t search for another explanation…

Krk is very easy to reach. The bridge connecting the island to the mainland is only 15-20 minutes away by car from our house. On the island you can visit many picturesque old towns like Vrbnik, Baška, the city of Krk – each beautiful in their own way, or you can choose between many beaches, 14 of which proudly fly the Blue Flag. Klimno bay, only 40 minutes by car form Selce, even has a healing mud beach, ideal also for children. There are also daily excursions to Krk by boat, starting from Selce harbor. (link na galeriju)
